This course allows you to enhance on skills learnt during the 90-credit diploma which will further your knowledge in specific areas of horse management including academic subjects, practical activities and independent guided learning. The course will cover: Anatomy and physiology; stable and yard management; equestrian teaching; animal nutrition; competition horses; animal health; rehabilitation and therapy; riding and exercising horses and event management.

What you need to know
How will I study?

Building on material covered on the 90-credit Diploma, you will study course units including: Anatomy and physiology; Stable and yard management; Equestrian teaching; animal nutrition; competition horses; animal health; rehabilitation and therapy; riding and exercising horses and event management. If aged between 16-18 you will be offered the opportunity to retake GCSEs in English and maths if you gained a D grade in your exams. Functional skills in English and maths will also be delivered alongside your course. You will also be encouraged to take extra qualifications such as the British Horse Society exams during the course.
How will I be taught?

Riding our lovely horses is timetabled at least once a week for each group. Practical tasks are delivered on the yard with the emphasis on students gaining, as much as possible, industry experience and skills to assist with securing employment in the future.
How will I be assessed?

Practical tasks on the equine yard. Written assignments to include posters and information leaflets. Ridden assessments along with 'ground work' to include tacking up assessments.
