Anyone who would like to acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding to work in the Horticultural industry and to study through work based learning. Those who are interested in working in, or are already employed in; landscape gardening, parks, gardens and greenspaces, production horticulture, garden centres, nurseries and cemeteries. This course is for you if you enjoy practical work in stimulating environments and like working outdoors.

Course programme

A range of horticultural tasks dependant on the sector you choose and the options chosen. These could include: Production horticulture Establishing decorative amenity areas Turf establishment and maintenance Identification of weeds, pests and diseases Plant protection Horticultural machinery Health and safety and legislation Identification and use of plants Decorative horticulture Hard landscaping Garden centre operations Plant establishment and maintenance All training is delivered in the workplace where you will receive comprehensive instruction designed to equip you to be able to carry out relevant real-life horticultural tasks. You will be visited regularly by a dedicated, qualified Trainer/Assessor to assist and advise you and to monitor and record your progression.
