You will be working in landscaping and your employer will release you for up to a day a week over a set peiod to come to college to get underpinning knowledge and understanding in key areas of horticulture. You will also be assessed in the workplace to complete your NVQ portfolio. There will be opportunities to develop new skills via training courses Horticulture is a vibrant industry in West Sussex and an apprenticeship is an excellent route into this area.

Course programme
How will I study?
At college you will learn underpinning knowledge in a range of areas such as Health and Safety, Plants and Soils, Turf and Machinery and other units relevant to your specialism. You will also learn about Employee Rights and Responsibilities.
How will I be taught?
There will be periods of day release at college that will be taught by a combination of theory and practical classes by a range of specialist teachers. There is also an online portal which can be accessed at home and used to gather extra information
How will I be assessed?
Mostly by assessing your competence in relevant skills in the workplace, though there will be technical skills tests and functional skills exams
