About the course

Do you want to work your way around the world as a hotel manager, events manager, conference executive or tourism officer? This Foundation Degree has been developed for those wishing to travel, to learn about the diversity of the hospitality and tourism industry and to ultimately become a successful manager or business owner in the sector. The qualification will give you the confidence and guidance to travel and work wherever you choose, enable you to progress directly into a career in a wide range of contexts, or to complete a hospitality-related degree at university.

Entry requirements

We welcome applications from those who have all of the following:

32 UCAS tariff points
four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, to include English and maths

or alternatively:

equivalent qualifications
relevant work experience.

Course programme

What you'll learn

The course covers a range of topics from events management – where you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your planning and practical abilities, to leadership and management skills that involve a more theoretical approach through investigation then the presenting of information.

As part of the course you will have many opportunities to work with industry professionals and subject-specific experts who will provide help and guidance in achieving your academic aims and ultimately employment within the hospitality and tourism sector. The College benefits from excellent employer links that are constantly updated and often lead to work experience and shadowing opportunities. The emphasis on work-based learning and personal development planning runs throughout the programme and wherever possible form part of the assessment process – students on the current programme are working directly with local businesses to help develop marketing strategies for them. Work experience opportunities in the UK, Europe and further afield can be arranged through the College’s connections and links with employers.
