You will learn how to work in the college’s training restaurant, this will involve preparing and serving food and drink. The course prepares you for employment in the Hospitality sector.
Units include:
• Food safety;
• Preparing and cooking meat fish and poultry dishes;
• Preparing and cooking sauces, soups and desserts;
• Set up and work in a bar;
• Professional food and drink service skills;
• Customer service skills;
• Restaurant bookings and handling payments.
You will also attend English and maths sessions if you do not hold a grade C at GCSE and will have the opportunity to undertake a supported work placement.

About this course
As well as undertaking a successful interview and a skills test you should hold a relevant Level 1 qualification in Catering or similar subjects or have experience from work placement.

Course Assessment Method
You will be assessed throughout the year via practical observation assessments recorded in an NVQ portfolio and online short answer tests. You will also sit exams for both English and maths if appropriate.
