You will complete a NVQ Diploma in Front of House Reception and a NVQ Diploma in Food and Beverage Service at Level 2 in year one and a NVQ in Supervision and Leadership at Level 3 in year two. You will also engage in GEM and GAP activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills. You also have the opportunity to undertake the BIIAB Personal Licence Certificate.

Course programme
The Hospitality and Supervision Leadership course programme is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in the dynamic hospitality industry. You will benefit from plenty of hands-on practical experience by working in our award-winning commercial restaurants providing a range of front of house services.
It covers a wide range of topics, including Interpersonal Skills, Sales, Team Development and Health and Safety. Specialist subjects will develop supervisory skills within the training restaurants/receptions operated by the centre. This programme leads to a City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 qualification. You will complete a NVQ Diploma in Front of House Reception and a NVQ Diploma in Food and Beverage Service at Level 2 in year one and a NVQ in Supervision and Leadership at Level 3 in year two. You will also engage in GEM and GAP activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills. You also have the opportunity to undertake the BIIAB Personal Licence Certificate.
The Hospitality Supervision and Leadership course comprises of eight units, five core including:
- Team Leadership
- Customer Service
- Health and Safety
You then select up to five optional units, which relate to your chosen area of supervision. Approximately 80% of the course is practical and 20% theory.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs (grades A*-E), including English and maths, or satisfactory results in a relevant Level 1 qualification, and an interview.
Career Opportunities
Employment in a supervisory capacity within the range of establishments in the catering, hospitality and leisure industries. Entry on to Level 3 is subject to satisfactory completion of the
Level 2 qualification.
Course Progression
Students could progress to a Foundation Degree at Colchester Institute.

Applying for a Full-Time course
Our term starts the week commencing 5th September 2016,
however you may have different start dates depending on the course.
You will receive the details of your first day over the summer period,
