The BTEC Introductory course is for you if you wish to develop underpinning knowledge and skills in the Travel and Tourism industry to assist with progression into employment.

The BTEC Introductory Diploma investigates all aspects of the Travel and Tourism industry. This is a practical and work related course, which consists of 8 units in total.

BTEC Introductory Diploma in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
Core units (all units to be taken)
Unit 1: Starting Work in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
Unit 2: Working in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism
Unit 3: Introducing Customer Service

Unit 5: Social Responsibility at Work

The course will enable you to develop specialist skills and knowledge in practical areas including communication, customer service, team working and public speaking. There will also be opportunities to go on a variety of trips and visits which in the past have included Manchester Holiday Show, Chester Zoo and different types of businesses.

Will I need anything else?
You may be required to purchase an atlas and certain Travel and Tourism books throughout your studies. However you will be advised upon this during enrolment.

How long & often do I attend?
This is a 1 year course, therefore requires full attendance through the week

How will I be assessed?
Your work will be assessed through a number of ways including assignments (written work), presentations and role-plays. Some units are subject to external assessment. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.

What opportunities will this lead to?
Successful completion of this course can lead to a BTEC First Diploma in Travel and Tourism or an equivalent vocational course.
