Course review:
This course is relevant for anybody that uses heat or fire within their daily work activities. This could include Roofers, plumbers, welders, building contractors, local councils, workshops etc.On successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to set up a safe system of work including method statement and work in accordance with a hot works permit. The delegates will also understand the fire safety requirements associated with hot works and have a practical understanding of fire prevention and safe use of fire extinguishers and fire blanket in the workplace. Course content includes:
- Fire Safety Legislation
- The cost of fire in the workplace
- Main Causes of fire
- Chemistry of Combustion - How fires Start and Spread
- Basic fire risk assessment
- Fire Precautions in the workplace - Examples of poor practice
- Human Behaviour - actions in the event of fire
- Classes of Fire and identification and use of fire extinguishers/fire blankets
- Safe storage of flammable products
- Safe systems of work (hot works permits and method statements)
- Company specific fire safety policy and documentation
