HSE Emergency First Aid at Work (NEW)
This is a one day (six Hour) first aid at work qualifying course as required by the First Aid Regulations. The course format is that it is modular and not consecutive days.

Course Content
The delegate will be taught in the following key areas based on first aid in the workplace. The course will be tailored to individual workplaces where appropriate.

Subjects taught:
· Accident Approach
· Dealing with unconsciousness
· Treating someone who has stopped breathing and whose heart has stopped
· Dealing with wounds & bleeding
· Looking after a casualty who is shocked
· Recognising medical conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy & asthma
· Treating broken bones and soft tissue injuries
· Recognising hypothermia and treating it
· Looking after burns and scalds
· How to help a poisoned victim
· Obtaining advanced medical assistance
· Legislation and first aid kits
· AED & Substances (where appropriate)

Assessment
Delegates will be continually assessed by their tutor throughout the course. At the end of the course delegates will be assessed twice in their practical skills (CPR & Injury) by external assessor(s). Upon successful completion of these assessments the delegate will be awarded a HSE First Aid at Work certificate which will be valid for three years.

The course can be tailored to the client's specific requirements and type of equipment they have. If this equipment is to be purchased you may want to source it through the Kawns shop.
Our training course should be attended by anyone who may be required to carry out emergency first aid in their workplace. This requirement will be found following proper risk assessment of the workplace. Whilst this is primarily a workplace based course anyone who has a need to learn the skills to save life can attend. There are no pre-course requirements.
Our open course is programmed to run in a six hour period.

Is the course accredited?
This has just been accredited by the HSE. Please be assured that this is a course that complies with the new ACOP for First Aid Training in the UK. This course is certificated and upon successful completion the qualification lasts for three years.

Open courses can be run centrally in our comprehensive training facilities at Gosport (see below for dates). By arrangement we can provide you with bespoke in-house courses to suit your specific training needs.
