Bookkeepers are a necessity for every business so it's no surprise that the bookkeeping profession is continually growing. Whilst bookkeeping is demanding and challenging, it is also exciting and rewarding too. Practical bookkeeping is about assessing and knowing how a business works and then providing the relevant advice and figures to assess the financial position of the business.
The Practical Bookkeeping Intermediate course allows you to master the world renowned "Double Entry" method of maintaining accounts.
The ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) is the largest bookkeeping organisation in the world. ICB are focused on promoting and maintaining the principles of bookkeeping. They achieve this through a series of appropriate qualifications and awards that recognise academic attainment.
The ICB's objectives are:
To promote bookkeeping as a profession.
To enable bookkeeping to gain recognition as an integral part of the financial profession.
To promote training in the principles of bookkeeping.
To develop personal study skills and improve confidence of those persons who undertake a course in bookkeeping.
To enable the achievement of a qualification, which may be used to enhance prospects for progression into higher levels of study.
To improve the career prospects of its members.
Qualifications
Completion of the course allows you to obtain the industry recognized qualifications through the ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers). You will attain Level 1 (an exam sat at home) and Level 2 (an exam sat at an external exam centre). Students who have previously taken the ICB Level 2 Bookkeeping course have achieved an 82.6% pass rate, which is above the national average.
Once you have been awarded the ICB Level 2 Certificate you are able to put the letters AICB after your name to show you are an associate member if the ICB. However, students need to register with ICB independently and also submit their own applications for exams. The exams are held at local centres across the country three times a year (March, June and October).
The ICB is the world's largest bookkeeping association with over 150,000 members.
Along with an extra qualification you will be demonstrating your commitment to your own development and ambitions. The course doesn't just cater for those looking for a career in bookkeeping, it will also provide you with the knowledge to keep your own accounts if you run your own business.
