What do I need?
There are no formal entry requirements.

What will I study?
This course is ideal for those who wish to gain essential ICT skills as well as improve their Maths.
Essential ICT enables you to select a variety of software packages that you are interested in, these include: Internet, email, word, database, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, powerpoint or web design. Have fun learning IT while you brush up on your Maths skills.
You will develop your everyday use of maths and gain a better understanding of number, measure and handling data.
The course will also cover decimals, fractions, percentages, volume, area and averages.

Where will I study?
Baltic Campus

You'll be based at our fantastic £39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas.

How will I be assessed?
English Assessment is through City & Guilds National Test, at level 1 or 2, as appropriate.
The assessment is in the form of an on-line multiple-choice examination.
Formal assessment is optional with regards to ICT, but all candidates will receive a Gateshead College certificate acknowledging their chosen ICT skills.

How will I be taught?
Classes will be available throughout the year. Each class will be divided in two parts, one part Maths, one part ICT. Each session will be just over 3 hours, giving everyone an opportunity for a refreshment break half way through.

What qualification will I get?
City & Guilds National Test in Maths at Level 1 or 2

Can I go onto further study?
Yes, you could progress onto a range of courses where maths skills are required on entry or go on to achieve your GCSE in Maths.

What are the career opportunities?
Good numeracy skills are highly valued by all employers.
