Candidates who complete all 8 modules and activities and pass a short multiple choice test at the end of each module, will achieve a nationally recognised environmental qualification.

IEMA Approved CPD CourseThis course is approved by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) as a recognised Continual Personal Development (CPD) course. IEMA stated that is was ideal for raising environmental awareness for any non-specialist individual*. This course was praised by IEMA for its' attractive presentation, straight forward language, coverage of environmental science, external links and on-screen activities.

*Please note it is not considered CPD for anyone who holds a high level environmental qualification (e.g. degree or has passed an IEMA approved foundation course).

Course Content

There are 8 modules covered during the course:

Environmental Issues
The primary local and global environmental issues. Causes and consequences of the most pressing environmental issues we are faced with today.

Pollution
The main causes of air, water and land pollution. The impact of pollution on humans, animals, plants and property. How to identify pollution risks and best practice for pollution prevention.

Business and the Environment
Exploring the links between the activities, products and services of the organisation and a range of environmental issues.

Environmental Management
The typical benefits to businesses that implement environmental good practice and an introduction to recognised environmental management systems (ISO14001, BS8555, EMAS)

Environmental Law
The principles and importance of environmental law and how to ensure compliance with legislation.

Energy and Water
The procedure for conducting a simple review of energy and water consumption and simple measures for reducing consumption at work and at home.

Waste Management
The procedure for conducting a simple waste audit. An introduction to waste minimisation using the "reduce-re-use-recycle" hierarchy and the benefits of waste minimisation to the environment and the organisation.

Transport
The role of the motor vehicle in operating a business and the potential to minimise its environmental impact.
