ILEX Professional Higher Diploma in Law and Practice Level 6

Course suitability

The new level 6 course is suitable for those who want to progress to ILEX membership and who want, ultimately to become Fellows of ILEX.

The qualification aims to create the complete Legal Executive, both academically competent in respect of their chosen legal area, and also suitably professional to be easily employable in a fast-evolving legal workplace. The qualification prepares for further professional development above and beyond level 6.

Successful completion of the ILEX level 3 programme, or qualifying law degree in last 7 years

Information about the course

To achieve the ILEX level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in LAw and Practice, students must achieve 1 x Level 6 Legal Practice module, 3 x Level 6 Law modules and both Professional Skills Units.

For 2009/2010, we will teach:

Unit 2 - Contract Law

Unit 15 - Civil Litigation

Unit 22 - Client Care Services

Course content

Course content will cover mainstream areas of law at honours degree level. Each law module covers all the main theoretical issues and topics relevant to the study of law at this level - 3 modules required. To complement the theory of law, the qualification requires students to study a compatible 'Practice' module. We will teach Civil Litigation for this purpose.

Underpinning the qualification are two Skills modules. In the first year we will teach 'Client Care Skills' and this is coursework assessed. The other professional skills module is 'Legal research Skills' which will complete the qualification.

6 modules complete the qualificaton.
