ILM Award in Team Leading
Course Description:
The Award is intended for people who are responsible for leading a team which provides services or produces goods. It is equally valuable for people who want to develop towards a future role as a team leader.
The Award is a nationally recognised qualification and is awarded by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)
The units covered on this course are:
- Developing yourself as a team leader
- Motivating the work team to perform
- Planning and monitoring work

Assessment and Progression:
'Developing yourself as a team leader' is assessed via a work based assignment which is submitted at the second workshop. For the other two units students complete a mini-project, which enables them to explore specific aspects of the role of the team leader, usually based on their own workplace.
Successful completion of the Award will give students 3 credits at Level 2. Students may then choose to progress to the Certificate in Team Leading, for which they will need to complete a further 10 credits.
Duration:
Students attend a total of 3 group sessions. In addition they are provided with study packs to work through in their own time, with various activities to complete, and they will have email/telephone contact with tutors at the College. It is estimated that students will need to spend around 15-20 hours outside the workshop times in order to complete the requirements of this course.

The fees for 2010/11 are £175. Fees include ILM registration and a study pack.
