We offer this course in-company for 8 -12 delegates. Overview

This comprehensive and focused 5 day management development course will provide delegates with an internationally recognised qualification and a set of practical tools and techniques to apply as soon as they are back in the workplace.

The course is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and all delegates will become free studying members of the ILM for one year as part of this course.

Target audience

Suitable for those who are likely to become first line managers (team leaders or supervisors) or who are already in the role but have had little or no formal training and are looking for a foundation for their formal development in this role.

Content

Day 1: Introduction to Leadership
(1 hour of post unit work required)
This first part of the course will provide you with an understanding of leadership styles and qualities and help you review your own leadership qualities and potential.

Day 2: Solving problems and making decisions
(3 hours in total of pre and post unit work required)
By the end of this unit, you will be able to recognise, investigate and analyse problems. You will also know how to evaluate options for solving problems and how to best present the chosen solution.

Day 3: Building the Team
(1 hour of post unit work required)
Here you will find out all you need to know about building a team - from open communication to relationship building and confidentiality.

Day 4: Managing Performance
(1 hour of post unit work required)
This unit is all about a first line manager's responsibility for managing their team and individual performance. You will learn how to set SMART objectives and techniques for monitoring and evaluation.

Day 5: Understanding change in the workplace
(3 hours in total of pre and post unit work required)
This unit will show you the role of change in business, the benefits of change and the consequences of not changing and how creativity and innovation encourage successful change management.

It should take about an hour a day, in addition to course days, for delegates to complete the required work-based business improvement project and any independent learning that you will be encouraged to do.
