The Programme
This is an advanced course which develops the ability to create Games Programmes. It will normally be taken alongside a programme of three AS Levels, which may be in non computing subjects. iMedia will develop both your creative side and your technical computing ability. It will teach you design skills and how to build these into a fully functional computer game.
Other subjects which would combine well with iMedia are: Computing, Maths, Physics, Engineering, Art, Design and Photography.
The Programme Content
You will design and develop a fully functional 3D computer game.
Unit 1 - Digital Graphics
Use a digital camera
Use image manipulation program to edit an image
Manipulate a digital graphic for a particular purpose
Unit 8 - 3D Game Engines
Use appropriate tools to build a playable 3D environment
Select, apply and modify textures to 3D objects
Select, apply and modify lighting in a 3D environment and utilise appropriate sound effects
Create a game for a particular purpose
Unit 9 - Game Design
Identify hardware technologies used for interactive games
Identify the elements involved in designing a digital game
Design a game level
All units will be assessed by coursework. In the second year, you may study Web Development. This will convert your Certificate to a diploma.

iMedia can be used as a platform for further study or to begin a career in electronic media.
iMedia carries the same UCAS points as an AS Level, helping you to gain university entry. Foundation Degrees are available at the College.
