Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Motorcycle Route - IMI Level 1 Award
What will I study?
This level 1 qualification covers the basic technical needs for todays motor cycle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge and practical skills required for service technicians working on motor cycles in all types if garages and dealerships. The level 1 course has a duration of 35 weeks and early completion is actively encouraged to facilitate progression onto level 2 technical certificate within the first year.
How can I progress?
On successful completion of this qualification, students can progress to IMI Level 2 Technical Certificate or may gain employment or an apprenticeship in motor industry.

Course Structure
Whilst studying towards this qualification the following modules will be covered; *Working Safely and Effectively during Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair, *Foundation Skills for Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair, *Motorcycle Construction and Routine Maintenance, *Operating Principles of Motorcycle Tyres, Brakes, Steering and Suspension systems, *Operating Principles of Motorcycle Engines and associated systems, *Operating Principles and Maintenance of Motorcycle Transmission systems, *Operating Principles and Maintenance of Motorcycle Electrical and Electronic Systems, *New Motorcycle Assembly. Students will also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.
