Who the Course is For:
The IMI Diploma in Motor Vehicle Electrics is aimed at people who have the ability and motivation to become tomorrows skilled diagnostic techincians in vehicle electrics. The programme offers advance technical knowledge and practical tuition in diagnostics and fault finding. The IMI Diploma in Motor Vehicle Electrics is a Technical Certificate, a necessary component of the Apprenticeship Framework. This ensures that the course meets the national standards set by the Automotive Skills Council.
Assessment:
All units are examined by Awarding Body on-line assessments in the form of multiple-choice questions and in order to assess the students ability to perform practical tasks to industry standards, simulated workshop activities of fault diagnosis and repair are arranged.
Course Leads To:
Career development and progression in the field of motor vehicle electrics.Completion of an Advanced Apprenticeship programme when signed up with a Managing Agent.

Content:
This level 3 qualification provides the essential knowledge for auto-electricians working on vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depot. It focuses on faults involving the interaction of more that one auto-electrical system and accurate diagnosis.
It is a learning prgramme which involves students studying both the theory and practical aspects of the following:-
- Diagnosis of Rectification of: Engine Electrical Fautls
- Transmission and Chassis Electrical Faults.
- Auxiliary Equipment Electical Faults
Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills with working in a garage.
Students have to complete 6 mandatory units.
