Course programme

Keeping the hospital environment clean and tidy is one of the best ways of reducing the risk of the spread of infections. This video deals with the ‘What?’, ‘Why?’, ‘When?’ and ‘How?’ of Infection Control in Hospitals. The video is designed to help Domestics understand how to clean effectively, ensuring infections are controlled, whilst protecting themselves and others from infections at work.

Technical consultancy was provided by Penny Purdam, Fellow Member of the Association of Domestic Management and member of the British Institute of Cleaning Science.

Subjects covered include:

Hand Hygiene • Your Role in Infection Control • Personal Protective Equipment • Where and When to Clean • Cleaning Agents • Effective Cleaning • Waste Management • Waste Disposal • Mechanical Cleaning

Supporting material:

An accompanying CD-ROM contains a Training Pack, which includes a Lesson Plan, 6 group and/or individual exercises and 8 handouts. The CD-ROM also contains Question and Answer sheets a Trainer’s Guide and other supporting materials, all designed to help you prepare and run an effective training session.

Duration:

18 minute DVD/video in 10 sections to be used in a suggested 2 hour training session.
