and solutions to those requirements. A practical approach will allow you to apply your knowledge gained during the foundation year.
You will study five courses on the Programme:
Information Technology
During this course, you will develop a level of competency that will allow you to apply IT skills to undergraduate study. A range of IT areas will be covered using appropriate software packages including: databases, word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation and drawing, and computer architecture. The course will have a natural link to the other subjects, particularly developing the skills required for using a variety of software packages.
Mathematics
This course will give you numerical knowledge in a range of mathematical activities and give you the confidence to develop problem solving skills. You will be able to transfer these skills to the other courses on the programme. The course will cover a range of areas including algebra, geometry, calculus and statistics. Your mathematical ability will progress during the course to be able to develop these skills at degree level.
Business Information Systems
This course will introduce you to business organisation and the application of information systems to management. Topics such as networks, databases, the Internet and web services will be considered. You will gain a broad understanding of computer systems within the context of the new business environment of electronic communications and the external
environment in which they operate. You will learn about marketing and finance, and how IT systems can be used to enhance management strategy. An understanding of the professional, legal and ethical aspects of computing technologies will be gained.
Digital and Creative Technologies
This course will introduce you to the creative digital skills that are providing new avenues of learning and professional development in the television, advertising, and games industries. A unique learning experience, combining practical skills and knowledge, will allow you to gain understanding that you will be able to develop at degree level. Areas covered will include: website design, animation, 2D and 3D modelling and the applications of interactive media. The course will allow you to develop transferable skills and knowledge for degree level study.
The four main subjects will be assessed through examinations and coursework.
