  • Joining L'atelier9 was the best decision I could have possibly made for myself. I am just now finishing up my month long course and I am so sad to see it end. I took the beginners course although I do have some knowledge of the French language I thought it would be a good idea to get a fresh start. I am very happy with my progress and my teacher was absolutely wonderful. I am reading some magazine articles and am able to understand basic conversations. The classes are small and you are with others who know the same level of French as you. I never felt dumb for asking questions and it is so hands on. The workshops are also an amazing bonus. Not to mention I have made some pretty amazing friends while attending classes. You will not regret attending class here!

  • This was my fourth time that I went to Paris to learn French and my first time at L'Atelier 9. The first thing I noticed on my first day there was that all of the staff are kind. Not only kind, but in an honest and exhilarated way. This spirit seemed to be spread out over all students and it would have been very hard to not become influenced. One of the biggest advantages at this school is that students need to be over 18 years old and so they know why they inscribe. The method of teaching was very varied, intensive, exciting and also amusing - a perfect mixture. This was very important to me because being employed full-time I needed to take vacation and I didn't want to be exposed to competition in class or pressure to perform. Exactly this helped me to make my biggest progress with French during my stay of 3 weeks. I am really looking forward to going back to this school in a few months.

  • I enjoyed talking with the teachers and my classmates so much, it pushed me to speak more even though I'm shy and scared to show my poor French. The location and the school is very nice, not very big but it has a warm feeling. Students were very international, a small class with more than 6 different nationalities. It's also good for us to learn some culture diversity.

Maximum 9 students per class: that is the secret of a pleasant atmosphere and efficient learning!
Our method, based on the communicative aspect of the language, requires no textbooks, but rather provides a tailored-sheet system created by the teachers, adapted to the linguistic needs of the students. Without omitting written skills, we focus onconversation and its use in every day French. That’s why our teaching material is centered on actual French situations and enriched by numerous documents, including songs, newspaper and magazine articles, videos, games, etc.
All of our students are placed in different groups depending on their level: true beginners, false beginners, lower intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced.
On the first day, an oral assessment will be carried out to determine the course/level that will best fit your level of spoken French.
Gathered around a table, students are encouraged to actively participate and to stimulate their creativity with the assistance of presentations, drama techniques and debates.
Pronunciation is corrected at all times during class, and homework is given to the students at the end of each lesson (correction is done on either an individual basis during class or in a group session at the beginning of the day’s class).

What I would highlight: I had an absolutely amazing time. My class was filled with enthusiastic people from various cultural backgrounds who mingled quite easily. Agnes is the funniest and the best teacher I have seen when it comes to teaching language skills! Location and facilities of the school were just perfect, and I wish I stayed there longer!

What I would highlight: At first I though it was very difficult because the teacher was talking in French all the time but when I got used to that, I found the classes were very good. I think I learned a lot of French words and phrases and I'm looking forward to two more weeks in the same school at the end of summer!
What could be improved: All good.

What I would highlight: The classes were small which was great. Teacher Erika was very good – she was patient and introduced extra material during the class. The location was fine. Facilities were a little poor. The kitchen could be jazzed up. The activities were fun and worthwhile. The class was very mixed in terms of ability which I found a little frustrating, but it was overall a good week.
What could be improved: Everything was excellent!
