Do you want to learn the techniques associated with the recording, composition and manipulation of sound and music?
Students with an interest in Music Technology will be given comprehensive training in current computer music skills and digital recording techniques. The two units, Sequencing and Recording will allow learners to develop their operating skills in MIDI sequencing software and its application in the production of music, and introduce learners to recording in both studio and location environments, and will provide the opportunity for you to become familiar with some of the standard equipment and procedures used in the recording industry.
You will be given a thorough knowledge of the range of technology commonly connected with music production, and practical experience in a range of compositional, mixing and editing skills/ techniques associated with music production. Through research and practical work, you will gain an understanding of the functions and application of both the hardware and software that are commonly used in music creation environments. You will be given the understanding to enable the assembly of your own music production setup.
Entry Requirements
The course has no formal entry qualification but is aimed at students doing an advanced programme of study with an interest in using music technology, recording and production.
How the courses are assessed
Practical course work only. This involves developing skills in sequencing, recording, and music production, as well as research into the equipment associated with music production environments.

What can I do with it?
You will gain a thorough working knowledge of the skills required to record, sequence and produce music in a professional environment. There are a wide range of A level and Further Education courses available in all aspects of Music Technology and Music Production.

An active interest in Music Production, with an awareness of different Musical genres is beneficial.
