Entry Requirements
Enthusiasm and interest.
Description
This
course is designed to promote awareness and understanding of interior
design and a confidence and ability to use this within the home.
Throughout the course it will be stressed that no two people will have, or
can expect, to have the same ideas.
After completing this course
you should be able to:
Produce a suitable floor plan/elevation/design
board of the required area. Understand colour and be able to design a
colour scheme. Design to meet the needs of those living within the home.
Design an interior from an aesthetic as well as safety angle.

Where a
course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all
students will enter for the qualification.
Method of Assessment
This
course leads to an NCFE Level 1 Certificate on the NCFE 7880 in Creative
Craft.
The qualification consists of three mandatory units:
Unit 01
- Explore available resources to develop basic craft skills
Unit 02 -
Explore and develop ideas creatively
Unit 03 - Create, present and
review final craft item(s)
You should note the following:
Assessment
will be by questions and answers, individual tutorials, observations and
questionnaires. You will be required to complete a Candidate Record of
Achievement and to produce a portfolio which might include evidence of
planning, design, health & safety, photographs of finished articles,
technical information and research and stimulus material.
Progression
This
course prepares students for direct progression to the NCFE Level 2
Certificate in a following year.
Materials
Notebook, pen and pencil, eraser, ruler, scale ruler,
set square. Drawing pad. General source materials ie magazines. Tutor will
advise as course progresses.
