Intermediary Training

Since 2003, the City Law School has devised and delivered the legal training for Intermediaries on behalf of the Office for Criminal Justice Reform (OCJR). The course equips Intermediaries with legal skills and knowledge as a necessary background for their job in assisting communication between vulnerable witnesses and those who question them in interview and at trial.

Since November 2005 the CPD Department has also delivered a three-hour course to barristers on how to cross examine a vulnerable witness with an Intermediary. Some of these courses have been run within chambers; others were organised by the Criminal Bar Association and sponsored by the OCJR.
