Intermediate Apprenticeship in Construction Building (Maintenance Operations) - Day Release

The Intermediate Apprenticeship in Construction Building (Maintenance Operations) is ideal for those who are practically minded, enjoy working with their hands and are seeking to start a career as a property maintenance operative. It is also suitable for those who have relevant experience but do not have a relevant property maintenance qualification. The Apprenticeship focuses upon health and safety, the handling and storage of materials, productive working practices, delivering reliable customer service and, depending upon the route taken within the pathway: repairing or renewing wood products, plumbing, wall and floor tiling, decorating, bricklaying and plastering. You will achieve a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment (Construction) and a Level 2 Diploma in Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations (Construction). Unless exempt on entry, you will also achieve Level 1 Functional Skills qualifications in English and maths.You will learn through a combination of on- and off-the-job training. You will attend college on a day release basis during term time and spend the rest of your time earning and learning in the workplace. You will be assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of knowledge and practical assessment activities, including assessment of activities in the workplace. The Apprenticeship has a minimum duration of 18 months unless you are aged 19 or older and have undertaken relevant prior learning The typical duration for a new entrant to the industry is 24 months. Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by an Apprenticeship Achievement Officer.
