If you are over the age of 16, an Apprenticeship allows you to gain a nationally recognised qualification whilst working in paid employment. Your programme will last 13 to 15 months depending on your age and is currently being delivered free of charge. To commence your Apprenticeship you need to be working in the care industry.

Technical Certificate / Underpinning Skills and Knowledge
Learners working in Adult Social care environments will follow the Adult Care pathway and do the technical certificate outlined below. There is no technical certificate for those following the Health pathway.
You will complete a supporting qualification to ensure you have the required knowledge to work in your chosen sector. You will be offered workshops within college but there is flexibility to use distance and e-learning methods to enable you to complete course work to demonstrate knowledge and skills.
Personal Learning & Thinking Skills
This is contained within your Diploma programme.
Functional Skills
If you do not have the relevant GCSE grades in Maths and English, you will complete a total of two functional skills which will be assessed in the workplace and you may be required to take an exam depending on your current qualification in:
• English level 1
• Maths level 1
Employment Rights and Responsibilities ERR
ERR is assessed through the “Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Health, Social Care, Children and Young People’s Settings” component. The Award holds a value of 3 credits and the guided learning hours are 24.
On completion of the elements above you will be accredited with an Apprenticeship Certificate.
