Course Overview
This course will suit a trainee Chef who is passionate about cooking and committed to learning new techniques.
On this Apprenticeship you will learn how to prepare, cook and present a range of food items, such as meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, cakes, desserts, soups and sauces.
Subjects covered include:
- Hygiene and food safety in catering
- Healthier foods and special diets
- Kitchen set-up
- Applying workplace skills
- Healthy eating
- Knife skills
- Team work
The learning experience will be individual and fun, with on the job training and options of workshops either in the College or with your trainer. You will also be able to make use of facilities both at your workplace and in the College, including our excellent library and learning resource centre.
Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.
It’s also important to have good English and maths qualifications and so all students will study English and maths and work towards an appropriate level and type of qualification including GCSE.
