Course Summary:
This qualification is aimed at the learner who wants to pursue a career as a fitness instructor in the context of gym-based exercise.
You will cover anatomy and physiology, health and safety, planning and delivering gym-based sessions, healthy eating, communication and motivation skills.
Courses are planned to start in:
September - 20x Tuesdays 6-9pm
September - 20x Thursdays 6-9pm

Entry requirements
A basic understanding of anatomy and physiology is desirable. So too is an understanding of health and safety practices within a gym-based environment.
You should have competency in English and maths to help with the theoretical aspects of the programme.

Course Content: The course is made up of several units which include: Anatomy and physiology for exercise Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment Principles of exercise fitness and health Client support Planning gym-based exercise Delivering gym-based exercise How will I be assessed? You will be assessed through: multiple choice theory paper/eAssessment practical examinations worksheets Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? You will need to have suitable clothing for a gym environment, including indoor training footwear, personal towel and toiletries. There are no additional costs, although you may choose to pay for membership towards becoming a Registered Exercise Professional (REP). What can I do after this course? On completion of the course, you will be qualified for employment or may wish to continue training on the following REPs accredited courses: Certificate in Personal Training Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity Award in Circuit Training Diploma in Exercise Referral
