Course Summary:
If you are interested in exploring the potential of a career in creative media production, this one-year course is an excellent introduction. It is designed to give you a general overview of the media and the skills needed to succeed in such a fast-paced industry.
To support your main study programme, future progression and life skills, you will also develop your skills in maths and English.
Entry requirements
You will need at least four high grade Ds or above at GCSE, along with a minimum grade C in either English Language or Maths. Prospective learners will also be asked to compile a portfolio to evidence the skills required for media production. You will be given details of the required content at your interview. You must also attend a media workshop where your portfolio work and skills will be assessed.

Course Content: Topic areas covered on the course may include: Digital Media Sectors and Audiences Media Industry Planning and Pitching a Product Moving Image Production Digital Editing Digital Publishing Writing for Digital Media and Digital Games English and Maths How will I be assessed? You will be assessed on coursework made up of practical work, research, essays, discussions and presentations. Two units will be assessed externally. Maths and English will be assessed through a controlled assessment or final exam. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? Whilst all equipment required for the course is available for loan from the College, you will be required to supply your own stationery and SD card. What can I do after this course? This course is an excellent platfom for you to start working towards a creative media career. Provided you pass all the required units at Merit or Distinction level, have a grade C in English and demonstrate aptitude for this exciting subject, you could progress to a Level 3 course.
