2 Week: Intermediate Level
This Tiling course is designed to accommodate DIY Enthuisiasits, self builders
and total beginners who wish to develop basic skills in wall and floor
tiling. The course is structured in such a way that it enables the
individual to either work towards becoming a professional Tile Fixer where
if needed a further course can be taken at a later stage or
alternativley to give a more rounded arsenal of skills when it comes to
home tiling projects.

This course can also be carried out over 4 Consecutive Weekends or
alternatively over 4 Weeks on our evening classes
2.14 Programme Structure:
The programme is divided into 4 main units.
Students will aquire the understanding and skills required to execute
basic wall and floor tiling. This will be achieved as they progress
through the four structured units together with a rigorous assesment
process. The course also encourages the students confidence and provides
95% practical training as well as 5% theory.
2.15 Programme Objectives:
To
achieve the award students must be able to demonstrate their abilities and
understanding within the four main units, these are as follows;
LO1:
Plan and organise a tiling project including the correct selection and
safe usage of tools reguired.
LO2: Demonstrate the correct preperation
of tiling surfaces to be tiled.
LO3: Demonstrate the ability to cut
tiles correctly, including the skills required to fit tiles around objects.
LO4:
Apply wall and floor tiles to an acceptable standard, selecting and
applying the correct adhesives and grouting.
2.16 Content:
LO1:Plan
and organise a tiling project including the correct selection and safe
usage of tools required.

correct usage.

The measuring up for the project, equipment and material requirements.
LO2: Demonstrate the correct preperation of tiling surfaces to be tiled.

Watertight surfaces
LO3: Demonstrate the ability to cut tilies correctly, including the skills
required to fit tiles around objects.

Safe cutting techniques including both straight and curved cutting.

LO4: Apply wall and floor tiles to an acceptable standard,selecting and
applying the correct adhesives and grouting.
