INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE LANGUAGE A1

WHAT IS LANGUAGE A1?
It is a compulsory component of the I.B programme and is a group one subject. It involves studying literature in a students first language, including the study of a selection of world literature. It involves both written and oral elements.
A specific aim is to engender a life long interest in literature and an appreciation of the elegance and richness of human expression.
WHY SHOULD I STUDY LANGUAGE A1?
To gain knowledge about the literary heritage of your first language as well as studying literature from an international perspective
To challenge your views and develop your responses to literature.
To consider self expression and the role it has in becoming an effective communicator
USEFUL SKILLS & INTERESTS
Reading, writing and an ability to speak fluently.
