In recent years horses have become increasingly significant elements in the rural scene both as sporting animals and as lucrative components of agricultural diversification. Throughout the length and breadth of Britain, many farms and estates have begun to incorporate equestrian enterprises within a diversified portfolio of activities. The RAU has long realised the importance of combining equine and agricultural education.

A unique feature of the course rests in its international dimension. Studies of the international equine industry carried out in north-west Europe and the USA are complemented by contributions from internationally-reputed visiting speakers from all areas of the equine industry. As Middle Eastern, Latin American and Asian economies continue to expand the demand for highly-skilled, motivated graduates within the agricultural/equine sector is predicted to expand dramatically.

You’ll complete a 20-week work placement in the second year of the course, which will establish valuable industry contacts and offer an essential insight into the agricultural and equine-related business sectors.

Our students frequently publish material from their dissertation research in academic journals, and present findings at national and international conferences.
