Other information
Most students on this course will be international students, but there will be some places for home students who have recently come to the UK and who need to improve their language skills before progressing to academic studies. Students who are successful on this course will be guaranteed a place on our GCSE or A level programme.
This full-time programme is designed for students who need to improve their English Language skills in preparation for academic studies in the UK. Students can join the course in September or January. If you have the necessary subject knowledge and language level you can combine GCSE/AS study with this Foundation course
TOPICS COVERED
General English
You will develop your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and practice speaking, listening, reading and writing. You will learn the language skills which you will need to pursue academic studies at a college or university in the UK.
Exam Preparation
You will be prepared to sit the IELTS test (International English Language Testing System) and/or Skills For Life exams.
British Cultural Studies
You will learn about British culture and society through the study of a wide variety of aspects of life in Britain, while you practice reading, writing, speaking and listening.
English for Business
You will learn the language required to prepare yourself for the study of business-related subjects, as well as learning about the world of business in the UK.
Information and Communication Technology
You will learn the practical skills which you will need to use ICT applications efectively in your academic studies and prepare for a CLAIT qualifcation.
Tutorial
You will have a personal tutor who will support you and monitor your progress throughout your studies at the College.
