As one of the most established and internationally recognised courses available, this degree is renowned for teaching excellence, student achievement and graduate success. It is designed, and regularly reviewed, in consultation with industry, and covers the academic elements of the hospitality industry alongside management studies, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills required by industry.
Students are able to enjoy the creative and contemporary Culinary Arts Studio. Opened by Rick Stein in 2006, the Studio is a unique facility providing an outstanding opportunity to observe and record social interaction within a hospitality environment.

Course structure
Teaching staff with practical, research and professional experience in hospitality management utilise a mixture of lectures, seminars, workshops and group activities. Students can expect to be in the classroom for approximately 12-15 hours a week but must be prepared to undertake a range of personal research activities to further develop their knowledge. There are opportunities for students to study languages alongside their degree and an optional placement can be taken after year two. There are a wide range of placement opportunities (including many overseas) enabling students to gain an applied understanding of the industry.
Areas of study
During year 1 students focus on the operational aspects of the international hospitality business as well as the principles of management. In year 2 students develop knowledge of service quality and consumer management. In the final year students evaluate contemporary issues in the international hospitality industry and adopt a strategic approach to management. A wide range of options is offered in the final year enabling students to focus on their particular area of interest.
