Course programme

This study programme will provide students with the opportunity to gain a good understanding of the numerous career options within the travel industry. It is designed to ensure students learn the necessary skills and gain valuable experience which will enable them to apply for employment within the various sectors of the travel industry or progress on to a higher level qualification. Part of this study programme (Award for Resort Representatives) has been endorsed by Thomas Cook, who have indicated that the qualification meets their needs for well-trained overseas staff. In recognition of this Thomas Cook will guarantee an interview for those who successfully pass the qualification and meet their minimum criteria. The study programme is delivered in a practical way by lecturers who have travel industry experience and can bring the subjects to life. Units studied will include: • Worldwide Travel and Tourism Destinations • Travel and Tourism Support Services • Preparing for the start of the holiday season (resort representatives) • Understanding the role of a representative in resort • Manage airport and transport duties There will also be a number of day visits that all students are expected to take part in (and enjoy!) to widen their experience of the travel industry.
