Welcome to the English Couture Company. The company founded to keep home dressmakers & professionals alike supplied with all the best interlinings & trimmings available. The company is run by Michelle Pye & she draws on all of her experience in the tailoring & dressmaking trades to keep the company well stocked.
Michelle also teaches Dressmaking & Tailoring courses. They are based at the English Couture Company head office in Leicestershire, the Husqvarna studio in Nottingham & the Direct Knit & Sew studio in Sheffield. These workshops are mainly one day in duration although longer courses are available. Samples are made of the techniques demonstrated, so when you get home you can refer to your sample to help with applying the technique to your garment. Michelle teaches a wide variety of workshops, from beginners through to more advanced such as Special occasion wear.
Her Tailoring workshops cover all aspects of the tailoring world from Michelle's roots in traditional tailoring to the modern approach of Speed tailoring using the interfacings from English Couture.
The dressmaking workshops again are extensive starting with introducing sewing machines & paper patterns, & working through a complete range of workshops including shirt making, lingerie & the boned bodice course.
