Normally a minimum of 2 GCSEs (grades A* – E) and satisfactory completion of the four day ‘Motor Vehicle Engineering Preview’ course is required, details of which will be given at interview.

Course programme
The Introduction to Auto Mechanics Certificate is aimed at those students not yet at the required entry level for the full-time motor vehicle Level 1 Diploma programmes in Vehicle Maintenance and Paint Refinishing or Vehicle Inspection.
It is designed to develop the literacy, numeracy and employability skills of students, alongside gaining practical and technical motor vehicle skills and knowledge in our workshops.
This course is delivered through a variety of learning situations including class tuition, assignments, personal study, research and practical workshops.
In addition to your main programme you will also engage in GEM and GAP activities to support your English, maths and employability skills.

Introduction to Auto Mechanics course content includes:
- Functional Skills in Maths and English
- Introduction to Engine Technology and Workshop

Entry Requirements
Normally a minimum of 2 GCSEs (grades A* – E) and satisfactory completion of the four day ‘Motor Vehicle Engineering Preview’ course is required, details of which will be given at interview.
What next
Progression to Motor Vehicle Level 1 part-time or full-time programmes in Vehicle Maintenance and Paint Refinishing or Vehicle Inspection subject to approval of a progression board or a junior role in the motor vehicle industry sector.

Applying for a Full-Time course
Our term starts the week commencing 5th September 2016,
however you may have different start dates depending on the course.
You will receive the details of your first day over the summer period,
