About this course

The objective of the course is to introduce the learner to BSL and by the end of the 8 weeks you should have the knowledge to have a basic conversation with a deaf person.

the course presumes no previous knowledge and will take you from having an interest to wanting to learn more!

None - Just a willingness to learn

At the end of the 8 weeks you will be given the choice to to take the assessment. If successful you will have achieved Unit 101 of the BSL Level 1 programme

Our courses are held at our premises on the outskirts of Birmingham with easy access from the M42 motorway network. The teaching is in an informal friendly setting.

Have you always wanted to learn British Sign Language and communicate with Deaf people?

Introduction to British Sign Language

(BSL Level 1 – Unit 101)

Tutor: Michelle Prestidge

We are offering you the chance to learn basic vocabulary and BSL skills, each week building your knowledge and understanding.

This course can be a vocational learning experience or at the end of this short 8 week course you can choose to sit an assessment giving you a recognised qualification.

The course will be delivered at our premises in Alvechurch, South Birmingham.

Day Wednesday: 6.00pm-8.30pm commencing 8th April 2015

Course fee: £82.00 (+ VAT)

If you choose to take the assessment an additional cost of £17 will apply.

What next?

Interested candidates can go on to complete units BSL102 and BSL103 in order to achieve the full Level 1 Award in British Sign Language.

Additional information

This is an excellent opportuntiy to learn a new language and be able to communicat with the Deaf community.  Candidates can continue onto BSL Level 2 and 3 and become more confident with each level.
