INTRODUCTION TO CHILD PROTECTION (1 DAY COURSE)

ABOUT THE COURSE

This one day course is prepared for those who are new to this field of work or those who require first step basic training. We present this subject in a manner that is non-threatening and interesting to course participants.

This one day course is suitable for all newly qualified childcare professionals within social services, health, education, early years, youth offending/youth justice teams, fostering and adoption, private and voluntary sectors, community, and the police.

This course can provide the foundations for good practice and is often used as stage one of a three-part package, which can include our other courses, Introduction to Child Sexual Abuse & Introduction to Safe Caring. Trainers use a range of approaches to this subject and those who have attended have identified clear learning in terms of their daily work and how their practices relate to the legal framework and local procedures.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

This course aims to:

  • Provide participants with a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
  • Clarify the legal framework and local child protection guidelines and procedures.
  • Address concerns and anxieties that surround this topic and work through any difficult issues.
  • Create an impact on the way participants interpret and understand the affects that child abuse can have on a child's life, development and behaviour.
  • Discuss the myths that surround child abuse and develop a deeper awareness of the barriers that get in the way for professionals who work with children.
  • Equip participants with further practical knowledge and skills around this work.
  • Create an understanding of the need to work together with others to ensure the child's safety.
  • Provide awareness of the roles and responsibilities of all involved in the care of children.


    On completion of the course delegates are provided with course materials and are awarded a certificate. The training will commence at 9:30am and finish at 3:30pm. This course runs with a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 delegates.

    Support: This course is charged at £750 per course + VAT. We can train between 12 and 25 delegates on this course. Our trainer will travel to your local area to deliver the course at a venue of your choice. You will be responsible for organising and paying for the venue, the catering, and our trainer's accommodation. We will organise our trainer's travel arrangements and add this cost to your invoice.
