Develop an understanding of CBT as a therapy and of how/ why and when it is used in client work. 3. Learn about the evidence base for the efficacy of CBT - and, in view of the relative youth of CBT, some of the work remaining to be covered. 4. Understand both cognitive and behavioural factors and their role in CBT. 5. Consider the crucial role of emotion and the alliance in CBT.

Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

The workshop includes clinical demonstrations, group work exercises and discussion of client work problems. It is intended that the workshop will be user friendly, informative - and fun!

Objectives

1. Increase understanding of the evolution of the two other major therapeutic traditions and of how CBT is indebted to them for its evolution.
2. Develop an understanding of CBT as a therapy and of how/ why and when it is used in client work
3. Learn about the evidence base for the efficacy of CBT - and, in view of the relative youth of CBT, some of the work remaining to be covered
4. Understand both cognitive and behavioural factors and their role in CBT
5. Consider the crucial role of emotion and the alliance in CBT
6. Develop a beginning understanding of the use of CBT with Panic and Depression

General Information

Light refreshments available. Lunch is not included but there are a variety of food outlets nearby.

Car parking is available both in the Centre, in the surrounding streets, and there are several public car parks in the area.

This workshop may be used to satisfy CPD requirements of BACP and IACP.

Certificates of attendance will be issued on Day 2.
