Course suitability

Information about the course

You will make a simple/basic skirt or similar. Dressmaking techniques will be covered.

Pattern selection and understanding.

Cutting out.

Making up, seams, zip inserting.

Completing the garment.

Course content

Selecting a suitable pattern, fabric and the processes in making a garment.

Use of tools and equipment safely (eg threading and using a sewing machine).

Basic sewing skills

Choice of interfacings.

The tutor will discuss with the students other requirements they may have subject to time restraints.

Additionality

Please bring your basic sewing equipment with you to include hand sewing needles, pins, tape measure, scissors and a reel of thread. Also your chosen pattern and fabric. If you need advice regarding this, the tutor will be happy to discuss your options at the first lesson.

The course content may vary according to which tutor is teaching this course, also the content may be adapted to meet the needs of the class.
