Course programme

Have you ever wondered what a fashion designer actually does, whether it is the right career for you, or how designers come up with a fresh collection every season? This level 2 course, which follows from our level 1 course, continues our introduction to the subject specifically designed for beginners. It gives you guidance on how to design for a specific fashion market and a better understanding of the industry and your customers.

The course encourages design ideas that are challenging and at the same time cater to a client's needs. Using your ideas, we will explore how to develop a line/up (collection). By undertaking extensive research and design development techniques, you will be able to get a real taste of the design industry as well as develop your personal design language.

By the end of the course you will have the tools necessary to communicate your ideas and a better understanding of the development of a casual collection. You should have developed a good understanding of the fashion design process and explored some of the professional opportunities open to you. Work that you produce during the course could be added to an existing portfolio or provide the start for a new one!

Both Menswear & Womenswear design are covered.

Topics covered:

  • design briefing (setting up a project)
