INTRODUCTION TO FASHION TEXTILES AND FIBRES

Experimenting with textiles.

The finishing treatment of textiles is increasingly important and fibres and fabric manufacturers are investing in research and development in this area.

The course takes us to experiment how the simplest finishing can create great changes to the original fabrics.

Experimentation through handling the materials directly is still a very important part of the design process and at the same time it offers a way to intervene on textile leftovers.

Students will be stimulated to research the product features and study the techniques of handling the textiles.

The course proposes an unusual opportunity to study, touch and acquaint oneself directly with materials that each have a distinct personality.
