Course programme

Introduction to Presenting and Public speaking Why this course? Bladonmore uses cameras on this programme giving you the opportunity to see yourself on screen, so that you can break down inhibitions and incorporate what you are learning. Seeing yourself presenting effectively under the guidance of Bladonmore's executive coaches and presentation experts will give you added confidence.
Planning your presentation
Preparation is the key to success. Understanding your audience and your message properly prevents you drying up at the moment of truth, or confusing your message rather than hammering it home. This opening section of the course shows you how to research and rehearse your presentation and make it second nature, allowing you to calmly and confidently influence your audience.
Styles and techniques of presenting Looking at examples of history's great presenters, we evaluate their approaches and styles showing why they were so effective. This section identifies areas of your strength, as well as areas you could improve, helping you to define your own style and distinguish yourself from the crowd. The 'golden rules of presenting' are clarified, as well as the 'soft skills' that accompany your message, such as your appearance, tone, rhythm and projection.
The use of visual aids and handouts Using visual aids and handouts effectively and sparingly can help the audience retain your message. This section demonstrates when, where, why and how presenting aids can help. We focus on aids such as PowerPoint, and help you to use it effectively, ensuring you avoid the dreaded "death by PowerPoint".
How to handle questions and answers A successful presentation is not the only concern. Many fall foul of the question and answer sessions that follow. We help you to prepare for this and develop ready responses to difficult questions, giving you the confidence to stick to your message.
Wrapping up and appendicies
The session ends with an open forum, where any aspects of the course can be revisited, and all remaining questions can be answered. We also look at the appendices that accompany course texts and suggest practice techniques to complement the course notes. The material is intended to be a useful reference tool for the future.
Bladonmore is also happy to be contacted with any questions after the course is finished.
