Introduction To Soft Furnishings

Anyone interested in learning how to use a sewing machine and how to make simple items of soft furnishings.

None - this course is suitable for the complete beginner or students wishing to improve their basic sewing skills.

You will learn how to use a sewing machine and the techniques to make simple items of soft furnishings.

How to use a sewing machine.

Design and make a simple item of soft furnishings ie. cushion cover.

Your course tutor will be able to discuss this at the first lesson.

Please bring the following to each lesson:

Basic sewing kit - to include pins, scissors, needles, threads etc.

Notebook and pen.

Any fabric you already have, please do not buy new until you have attended the first week and discussed your requirements with the course tutor.

Please also bring measurements for a project if you know what you would like to make eg. window measurements.

Students will have to purchase their own materials/fabrics etc. Please allow for these additional costs.

No formal assessment.

Advice and guidance will be given during the course on further learning opportunities. These will be discussed during the course.
