Introduction to VFX, Animation & Graphics
This course is intended to provide students with fundamental skills in 2D image processing and 3D image generation while improving traditional and observation skills. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of digital image manipulation and computer graphics as well as geometric form and space using 3D software. You will develop skills using digital creation and manipulation tools such as Maya, Shake, Boujou and After Effects while getting an overview of the impact these technologies have on filmmaking.
Learning Objectives:
- To grasp the basics of modelling, texturing and rendering objects within a 3D environment.
- To know how to apply real-world textures to 3D objects.
- To acquire essential skills related to pixel based manipulation.
- To gain skills related to image acquisition (cameras, scanners and 3D software)
- To understand the fundamentals of layering, colour correction alpha matte and effects generation.
- To be able to prepare intermediate digital images (texture files) for integration within 3D software packages.
