Course Content: This course is aimed at new entrants who wish to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to progress on to the Plumbing Technical Certificate Level 2.
To gain the qualification, a learner needs a minimum of 8 units, plus one optional unit out of the 57 units available. The Plumbing department offers all the Plumbing assessments and some extra associated tasks. The assignments are designed to represent situations that a plumber will experience. All the assignments are supported with theory sessions to enable learners to work safely and produce work to a high quality.
Special Features: Each of the eight assignments is set out in a qualification hand book. All of the assignments produced will be marked according to the criteria set out by the City and Guilds, and completed within an allocated time limit. The underpinning knowledge shown in each unit covers necessary basic health and safety and good working practices. This is assessed by an additional multiple choice question test, via written test papers.
Course Format: Full time â€" 3 days per week and applicants must ensure they can attend all classes before accepting an offer
Progression: Current employment prospects within the plumbing industry are good. Successful candidates may progress onto the NVQ 2/3 MES plumbing if employed. Key Skills qualifications are an important part of the course and studied to maximise future employment opportunities.
