Course programme

Course Content

The course will cover:

· Practical teaching and assessing skills

· Legislation

· Injuries & prevention of injuries

· Risk Assessment and Ergonomics

· Mechanics of the musculoskeletal system

· Inanimate loads

· Communication & teamwork

· Practical elements relating to all aspects of Moving & Handling of people (assisted walking, bed mobility, lateral transfers, hoisting).

Benefits of the course

This course will equip learners with the skills and knowledge required to deliver manual handling training to others. Attendees will be given a training pack to equip them with the ability to produce their own training course.

Duration

This accredited course is run over 5 days. Each day will begin at approximately 0930 and will conclude at approximately 4pm.

Venue

This course is held at our fit-for-purpose training suite, or can be run at a venue of your choice

Assessment

Throughout the course, learners will have sessions of questions & answers, alongside activities and exercises. Learners will also be required to deliver a 20-minute micro-teach session as well as a theoretical examination on the final day of the course.

Entry Qualifications

There are no entry qualifications to attend this course, although it is recommended that learners have prior experience of manual handling.
