Suitable for: The foundation course is aimed at software developers, testers (both technical and user acceptance testers), test analysts, test engineers, test consultants and managers - including test managers, project managers, quality managers and anyone with an interest in software testing. The foundation course is a pre-requisite for taking the more advanced ISEB Intermediate Certificate.

The foundation course is a pre-requisite for taking the more advanced ISEB Intermediate Certificate.
Objectives
On completion of the course, candidates should be able to:

- Establish the basic steps of the testing process and understand where testing fits in to each stage of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
The course is made up of several modules:
- Fundamentals of Testing
- Testing Through the Lifecycle
- Static Testing
- Test Design Techniques
- Test Management
- Automated Tool Support for Testing
The examination is carried out at the end of the third day of the course. It is a one hour, closed book, multiple choice exam with a pass mark of 26/40. Successful completion of which leads to the award of the ISEB Foundation Certificate in software testing by the British Computer Society and the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Certificate, an Internationally recognised qualification in software testing.
