IT Essentials (A+) (Advanced PC Maintenance)

Course Aims:
Leads to a nationally recognised qualification within the IT support industry, equivalent to CompTIA A+ Certification. This course is aimed at someone who already knows how to build a PC but wishes to become expert.

Course Content:
Installing, configuring and upgrading PC systems & laptops
Diagnosing and trouble Shooting
Preventive maintenance
Motherboard / processors / memory
Printers
Networking including wireless security
Operating system fundamentals for Windows 2000/XP and use of DOS.
There is a necessary heavy emphasis on knowledge but this is reinforced with practical examples and activities where possible.

Progression:
Successful candidates can progress onto the Cisco CCNA (a professional qualification in networking and operating Cisco routing equipment in the workplace).

Exam:
You are assessed by two final multiple-choice tests.
